Your Assignment

Topic: Your topic should be based on a social problem of your choice. Discover a topic that really interests you, one that allows you to draw upon a range of sources, and one that can be explored in a paper of just 6 to 8 pages in length. (This research paper must be subjective rather than objective: in other words, you will need to develop an argument or interpretation rather than simply present information from your sources.)

Essay 3: Write a research-based cause-effect essay (3 ½ pages) using at least 4 outside sources. Essay 3 should define a problem, explain its causes, and begin to address its consequences.

Essay 4: Expand on Essay 3 as you add more on the problem’s consequences, and then explore possible solutions. Write 6-8 pages with 7 outside sources (4 outside sources for Essay #3 + 3 additional outside sources). Your thesis statement for Essay 4 will need to change.
