Problem/Solution Research Paper

You will write a 1,500-2,500 word problem/solution research paper on one of the following topics covered in class. In your paper you will explain the causes and consequences of the problem and the possible solutions, using evidence from your sources.

Topics and Corresponding Articles Assigned for Class

  • The current political divide in the US (“Should I Hang Out with Someone Whose Political Views I Hate?”) Fast Fashion (“Shein: The Unacceptable Face of Throwaway Fast Fashion”)
  • Tree Equity (“Do Trees Exist Only for Rich Americans?”)
  • Light Pollution (“Our Vanishing Sky”)
  • Artificial Intelligence (focus on one problem we read about from the NYT articles assigned)

Sources

Cite from a range of sources—journals, books, websites, interviews, etc. You will need a minimum of five and a maximum of seven sources, including:

  • One of your sources must be a reading from your book or the assigned NYT articles
  • One of your sources can be a website
  • The other three to five sources must come from the SBCC Luria Library
